Meet Rachel El Shamy | Founder | Broker

In the Field

One thing about me: I’m a good listener. With over 15 years in real estate, I’ve learned that carefully listening to my clients’ needs, wants, challenges, and goals – while getting to know them personally – is what helps me find the best solutions for them. Clients know they can level with me as their friend and their real estate agent which allows for much needed transparency in our communication.

I’ve become a skilled negotiator with diplomatic chops – as a natural problem solver, I can get creative to bring about the best outcome as needed. Experiencing the ups and downs of the market has given me wisdom to guide my clients through uncertainty, helping them navigate through any transaction.

South Austin has been home since 2013. Having worked in local development, residential sales, and property management, my South Austin neighborhood acumen is unmatched. I’ve also led the construction, lease-up, and development of a property management division for a local developer.

At Home

Learning is a core value that’s become a way of life. I graduated with Bachelor’s degrees from Manhattan Christian College and Kansas State University and have even studied abroad at the University of Paris-Sorbonne as well as the Brazilian rainforest.

I enjoy taking care of my community via Sunrise Navigation Center, Urban Roots Farm, Keep Austin Beautiful, Community First Village, and the South Austin Rotary Club. Internationally, I’ve volunteered in orphanages in Thailand, Cambodia, Burma, Laos, and the Philippines, and worked with refugees in Israel and the West Bank.

My family is my everything – they make it easy to stay motivated and inspired. My husband Justin, our son Otis, our cats Nova, Theodore, and Dylan, and our dog Ivvy, are my most cherished blessings. We love to indulge in a little adventure and travel whenever possible; camping in one of Texas’s many gorgeous state parks is one of our favorite pastimes.
